Chelsea Continue To Lead The Race To Sign This World Class Player

Chelsea were the busiest team in the last transfer window, bringing in six new players to join the first team in the current football season

As the January transfer window is only a few weeks away from officially opening, talks are ongoing about likely transfer target and other transfer business that the club could be involved in.

Chelsea are likely to ship out more players this January transfer window, so as to recoup some fund they spend in the previous window, than to sign new players.

But in this article, we will be looking at the player that Chelsea might be winning the race for his signature.

David Alaba

Bayern Munich defender, David Alaba is set to leave the club as a free agent in the next summer transfer window, after failing to agreeing an extension of his contract with the German Champions beyond this summer.

Reports from several top sources from Germany and outside Germany are stating that Chelsea could be winning the race for the signature of the 28 years old world-class player. It is reported that his agent is ready to talk with Chelsea in January, about the potential move of his client to Stamford Bridge.

Other top European clubs like Paris Saint German and Juventus are also reported to be interested in his signature, but the Bayern Munich defender don't see himself playing in the French League, and might want to try his options in the Premier League rather than the Serie A.

David Alaba is a top defender at the prime of his career, and has the ability to play in multiple positions, which could be an advantage to him to excel in the Frank Lampard's team.

He can play at the center back, left back, winger and also as a defensive midfieder. He would be a great addition to the Frank Lampard's already strong squad next season, and getting him as a free agent would be an absolute bargain.

David Alaba is likely to run down his contract at Bayern Munich and join Chelsea in the next summer transfer window.

With Chilwell already establishing himself as the first Choice left back, do you think Chelsea needs David Alaba?
